    Combined Cycle CHP
Combined cycle CHP plants employ a prime mover such as a gas turbine or reciprocating engine connected to an electrical generator to produce electricity.

A waste heat recovery unit (WHRU) then recovers the heat from the exhaust gasses to generate steam or hot water.

The steam or hot water can then be used for process or space heating and the electricity generated can either be used on site or exported. Typically this type of CHP is uses liquid, gas or renewable fuels such as bio gas.
