Since November 2009, the 53MWe 'Good Quality' Hythe CHP plant is part of the npower Cogen CHP portfolio.
The plant, near Southampton, delivers steam to the neighbouring Cognis chemical plant as well as steam and electricity to the adjacent Polimeri plant with excess power exported to the grid.
The plant consists of one GE LM6000 gas turbine, a heat recovery steam generator and four standby boilers.
The plant entered commercial service in May 2005 and has achieved good overall availability and accreditation to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 together with a RoSPA Gold award.
